Description

The position provides discipline-specific and transdisciplinary support within the Early Childhood Approach (ECA) Team, as well as for adolescents and adults with developmental delays or disabilities. Services are delivered through various modalities, including centre visits, home visits, community visits, and tele practice, to support developmental outcomes and community inclusion. The role includes conducting assessments for children aged 0–12 years, providing interventions for clients aged 0–65 years, and empowering individuals and families through tailored, person-centred interventions aligned with best practices.

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments, focusing on communication, swallowing, and developmental needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised intervention plans based on assessment findings and client/family goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting interventions as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provide support and education to clients, families, and caregivers to empower them in fostering communication development, independence, and participation.
  • Deliver therapy services tailored to the specific needs of individuals across the lifespan, addressing areas such as language, speech articulation, fluency, voice, social communication, and swallowing difficulties.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Liaise with the General Manager outside of normal business hours when required to address urgent matters or service delivery needs.
  • Work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, contributing to holistic client care.
  • Supervise and mentor Allied Health Assistants, ensuring service delivery aligns with therapy plans and best practices.
  • Attend supervision sessions with your Line Manager to discuss caseloads, professional development, and service improvement.
Service Delivery
  • Deliver therapy services in a variety of settings, including centre-based, home, community, and telepractice sessions.
  • Complete detailed service reports for each client, ensuring compliance with NDIS regulations and organisational standards.
  • Provide written reports, including assessment summaries, therapy goals, and progress updates, for families, schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Support transitions, such as entry into school, work, SIL, or aged care programs, with comprehensive recommendations.
  • Understand and implement NDIS requirements, ensuring all services align with NDIS plans, goals, and compliance standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.
Registration with SPA as a Speech Pathologist.
Willingness to work with clients aged 0–12 in assessments and intervention planning.
Knowledge of developmental milestones, intervention strategies, and ageing-related needs.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
A commitment to providing person-centred and culturally sensitive services.
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Police Check (essential).
Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle for home or community visits (essential).
